Provide mobility to a disabled person by sponsoring a tricycle, INR 6500

Action for Development of Demos (ADD) is an NGO based in Patna whose mission is to improve the economic condition of men, women and children living below the poverty line by creating greater awareness in the field of education and health.
The Basics

During local surveys, they learnt that there are many physically disabled people in the area. These people were proving to be an economic burden to their families, given their conditions. Thus ADD was motivated to start a programme, through which they could support these physically handicapped people and enable them to become contributors to their families.

How It Works

• ADD refers to the list of people below the poverty line and selects beneficiaries that are in need of support.
• They further get help from local ADD volunteers to identify other beneficiaries based on their economic status and immediate need and include them in the list.
• ADD provides tricycles to physically handicapped people enabling them to move about and become independent. Being independent, they can even start their own little business, or find suitabe employment, which will help them contribute to their families.

The Statistics

• ADD helps about 25 disabled beneficiaries every year

Help create a future for a handicapped person
Bhim Kumar, 26 years from P.S - Gopalpur, Patna had his both the legs attacked by Polio at an early age of two years. Despite being disabled, he continued his studies and completed from Bihar School Examination Board in 1984 but could not proceed to his further studies due to his poor financial condition. He used to make a little pocket-money by giving tuition to children of the village. He could have supported his family and also have leaded his life in a better way if he had a tricycle because it would be saving both his time and labor. His father, Brahm Deo who was a poor tailor who had not got that much earning to afford one to his son.
ADD Team members indentified him as person living with a disability. We provided him with a tricycle
Now Bhim Kumar is giving tuition children of the village going door to door. The tricycle gave him a great relief and also it slightly increased his earning which helped him in completing his further higher studies. He is thankful to ADD.
