I want to study well and become a good student and also a good player
I want to study well and become a good student and also a good player - This is the reiteration of a 4 year old child on the occasion of the prize distribution ceremony of Mukti Group of Schools in the presence of his parents, teachers and fellow friends. Jishu belong to a very poor tribal family. His family consisted of his parents, grannies and his four sisters. They earned their livelihood through daily wages. Getting educated was a far reaching dream for him but his parents wanted to send him to school.
| With the help of community workers of Vikash, his father got him admitted to Mukti Pre School. Vikash has established a group of pre schools in the inaccessible tribal areas of Pottangi block of Koraput district. Free study materials and uniform was arranged for him. He was taught personal hygiene, sanitation, social behaviour, colours, numbers, general science etc. |
| Now Master Jishu is one of the best students in his school. He attends school smartly; being well combed, neat and clean. He is a good player too. Now he has learnt oriya alphabets and counts from 1-80. Sincerity and dedication of this young boy shows parental motivation for education. Master Jishu is a rare example among the indigenous tribal children for his performance in school and punctuality. Now other children of his community and his younger sister have joined the pre-school. |
