Success Story

Santhosh.S is a mentally challenged child who also has cerebral palsy. Santhosh.S is a mentally challenged child who also has cerebral palsy. His father abandoned his mother just after he was born. His mother stays at home full time, as his son is incapable of doing anything on his own. She resorts to begging from relatives and neighbours to make ends meet

Santhosh was brought to the center when he was 12 years old. All these years of living in seclusion had made him socially repulsive. The trained experts at the institute patiently helped Santhosh come out of this misery. With the help of a physiotherapist, he slowly started to walk and talk. Gradually he was trained to do all his things by himself. He started writing, painting and stitching all by himself. He also started working on phenyl bottling and labeling.

Santhosh movements improved dramatically over a period of 24 months. He started doing all his duties by himself and started earning a nominal amount of Rs 100 every month. This was the salary paid to him for phenyl bottling and labeling. His mother could also work, as she was not required to be around Santhosh all the time. The situation of the family has improved a lot.
