Poor fisherman Gauranga Pattayat of village Nayabali was unable to catch fish Poor fisherman Gauranga Pattayat of village Nayabali was unable to catch fish due to lack of fishing nets. He was not in a position to purchase a net for earning his livelihood. Therefore he was living in constant poverty along with his family members. He was unable to go for daily labour against his profession.

We identified Sri Gauranga Pattayat as having skill of fishing. He was given a fishing net with fittings which made him happy and hopeful that he would be able to support his family.

By regular fishing thereafter he is earning about Rs.200 per day and managing his family of 5 members with ease. The fishing net has proved a livelihood support items for the fisherman family. He has been able to purchase a cycle replace the thatched house with asbestos and procured a portable TV set from the fishing income.
