Success Story

Kaushalabai belongs to the Mang community and she is devotee of Goddess Tuljabhavani. Kaushalabai belongs to the Mang community and she is devotee of Goddess Tuljabhavani. She begs in the name of the Goddess on every Friday and Tuesday.

Kaushalabai could have never settled down in life if she had not come in contact with the activists of SAAD. She was motivated to join SHG. She is member of Vishnavi SHG. She was motivated to take up some vocation to stand on her own feet. She started to make brooms which are commonly used for cleaning floor. She sells the brooms door to door and also in weekly markets.

The SAAD staff met Kaushalabai many times and motivated her to join the group and be the member of self help group. Initially irregular in her attendance Kaushalabai is now regular member of the group and saves Rs 50 every month. She was supported to buy material to make brooms. Now she sells them and earns her living. She is single but self dependant. She had also participated in the exhibitions of the items made by SHGs Kaushalabai joined our literacy class and is now able to sign her name
