Success Story

Ruby aged 19 years has intellectual disability and Physical impairment. Ruby aged 19 years has intellectual disability and Physical impairment. Her father, Mr.Inderjeet is a labor who earns Rs.3500 per month with a family of 6 dependent on his income. Ruby is the eldest of 3 siblings in a poor nuclear family. Her grandmother also resides with them. Her mother is a house wife and the father does not have a steady job. Her disability imposes an additional burden on the family.

Ruby is one of the rotational inmates of Apne Sahare. She is provided all boarding and lodging facilities including bedding, linen, toiletries and wholesome meals. She is administered physio therapy on a regular basis and is given basic training in chopping and cooking, elementary tailoring and making non toxic holi colors from flowers.

Ruby was not able to climb stairs properly and hold anything in her hands steadily. She is now able to hold a pair of scissors or a knife and use it effectively and climbs stairs confidently. The training given in daily living has instilled self confidence and made her self-reliant to some extent.
