Success Story

Deepak (29) and Rakesh (20) are severely retarded siblings by birth Deepak (29) and Rakesh (20) are severely retarded siblings by birth. They have a younger sister (17) who is also severely retarded. When they joined Apne Sahare they had severe behavior problems characterized by aggressive and hostile behavior. They were hyperactive, slept very little, had no control on their ablutions and were incapable of performing any personal chores on their own.

We have provided them with a new and different living environment where full time attendants and care takers look after them and cater to all their needs. They have been trained to perform basic daily chores independently. Under the expert guidance at our vocational training Center they are also being trained to make non-toxic Holi colors. No medicines are prescribed by us. We however administer medicines as instructed by the parents. Counseling is done by qualified psychologists whenever required.

Deepak and Rakesh have responded very positively to their new home and have shown a lot of improvement. They feel a great sense of achievement in being able to perform the basic chores on their own. They are no longer aggressive. Their parents have expressed complete satisfaction with the progress made by the siblings.
