Success Story

Noorjahan was very upset Noorjahan was very upset when her mother refused to take admission in a high school even after passing Grade 7 with 74 % marks. She comes from a poor family.Her widowed mother works as a part time maid servant and her health does not permit her to take more work. As her mother could not afford to educate two children within her meagre income, she decided stop the education of her daughter.

IDEA Social worker visited their house, met her mother and convinced her about the importance of education for her daughter too for a bright future. We assured support to her , if she is ready to enrol her daughter in high school and bear part of the cost of education. She felt sorry for her initial decision to stop the education of her daughter but enrolled her .

The above incident happenend two years back . Today Noorjahan is in class 10 scoring very good marks. She learned artificial Jwelry making and other art work taught by IDEA. During holidays she does this work to earn some additional income to help her mother. She is also a very active participant of all developmental activities we conduct in the slum for children .She is a role model for other children in her slum community
