Suraj came to Delhi from a small village in Bihar
Suraj came to Delhi from a small village in Bihar and lives with his parents at Panchsheel Vihar. His father works in a factory and draws a monthly salary of Rs.2900 (approx). His mother is a housewife. Education has never been a priority for the family. Suraj and his sisters have never been motivated to join a school
| Deepalaya staff met with his parents, convinced them of the importance of education and enrolled all the three children in Ramditti J.R. Narang School. While Suraj was admitted in Class UKG B, his two sisters, Shobha and Manisha have joined Class I and UKG respectively. An ongoing dialogue/interaction with the parents has ensured that the children do not drop out. At school, Suraj apart from learning the 3 R-s is also participating in music, art & craft. |
| The parents are now inclined towards educating their children. Suraj and his sisters attend school regularly. Suraj responds well in class and does his home work and class work thoroughly. The parents who were reluctant to attend the PTA meetings are now regularly attending them. Now his parents are convinced of the important transformative role education can play in their lives. |
