Success Story

Brijesh is a hearing impaired child Brijesh is a hearing impaired child and is the youngest son of Triloki Sah, a tea-stall-owner. At the age of 8 he was admitted to Deepalaya special unit. This required intense counseling session with his parents who otherwise believed that the child was a curse and would not be able to do anything in life.

Continuous training and handholding by the teachers enabled Brijesh for inclusive education and was mainstreamed in class VII at Deepalaya School, Sanjay Colony. He had been average students in academics, but brilliant in other latent skills.

Brijesh liked sports activities very much and made use of all the opportunities facilitated through Deepalaya. He had participated in many National level competitions organized by Special Olympics Bharat in different parts of the country. Brijesh was a winner in roller skating events for three consecutive years at the Delhi State Games organized by Special Olympics Bharat in 2006, 07 and 08. Four children from Deepalaya attended an all India training camp organized by the Special Olympics Bharat in the month of February 2008 at Shimla. Brijesh was selected from this camp to represent India in the World Winter Games 2009 to be held in USA. Brijesh won Silver Medal in the Snow Boarding competition. Even though they were disabled they made our country proud. It was a glorious moment for all of us. He is currently studying in the Deepalaya School. His ambition in life is to become a sports coach and to lead many children like him to success.
