Parents send their children to Balwadis primarily Parents send their children to Balwadis primarily to avail the free meal provided.No meaningful education takes place even after they complete age five and move to grade1. Rathinasundari and Rebakkal are 2 such children from Class I of the Panchayat Union Primary School, East Thiruvengadam, Sankarankovil Taluk, Tirunelveli district.

Vidyarambam introduced them to games and educational toys. An interest in learning basic skills is being created. Language and numbers are initiated through play-way methods and the interest in education is sustained.

Within 3 months the child starts identifying the animals, birds, fruits, vegetable, trees, transport and name them. . At the end of the year, they learn to identify the letters of Tamil and English languages and the numbers from 1 to 20. They march into the higher classes with self confidence.
