Success Story

Surya is 15 years old and her parents were separated 10 years ago. Surya is 15 years old and her parents were separated 10 years ago. Her mother had multiple partners .She was a drop out and not allowed to go to school. She had to babysit her siblings and also to work at an egg shop counting eggs for Rs.5 per day. She wanted to study further but there was no hope. Surya’s mother moved out with one of her partners and abandoned her.

SPPD, on knowing her deplorable condition, enrolled her in its home for the children. She spent a few years at the home attending classes in a nearby govt school. At the home, she was provided with free food, uniform, school supplies, accommodation and tuition. She was good at studies and last year, she passed 10th standard with 63 percent.

Surya is now pursuing Diploma in Nursing Assistant. She is still staying in SPPD Children’s home and she is confident that she will get a suitable job in a Hospital in a year. She is very happy and her future seems to be bright. Thus, SPPD has made a significant difference in her life
