14- year Old Vanaja (Name Changed) stayed with her parents in Cuddappah but she had to migrate to Chilakaluri peta. 14- year Old Vanaja (Name Changed) stayed with her parents in Cuddappah but she had to migrate to Chilakaluri peta, Guntur district along with her father, as her father was a construction labourer and was in search of work. Her mother ran away with another man. Four months after they reached Chilakaluri Peta, her father came home fully drunk and attempted to rape Vanaja. She escaped the attempt, and on the next morning, he left her in a home at Chilakaluri Peta with the help of a local RMP Doctor. By night she came to know that she was sold for Rs. 20000. She escaped again from that brothel house.

HELP volunteers rescued her with the help of Police, and sent her to Ashasadan, a transit home run by HELP for rescued children/women. Counseling, shelter, education, vocational trainings and legal services are provided for them in the home. It took 2 months for Vanaja to trust others. Slowly she started realizing that she was in the safest hands. She was sent to local school where she continued her education. Regular counseling services and personal care had created hope in her and she started learning very fast. Very soon she became a key person in Ashasadan. Her health also improved due to proper intake of nutritious food.

It is very true that given an opportunity every child can prove his/her ability; Vanaja is no different. The trainings she received made her commendable on Child Rights. She is the key speaker whenever there is a children issue debate. She is very much interested in education. She is living happily with other friends at Ashasadan. She is taking all types of vocational trainings. She is also very good at making bakery items and embroidery. She even teaches many other rescued victims at the home.
