Success Story

Sangeetha was a visually challenged destitute woman Sangeetha, a visually challenged destitute woman, stayed at a temporary accommodation in Mumbai. Her family is poverty stricken. The father and brother work in the informal sector (selling vegetables) and the mother is a housewife. Sangeetha aspired to study beyond the twelfth grade and enrolled in an undergraduate course. Owing to the temporary nature of accommodation, she was asked to leave the hostel in June 2009. This put her study plans and her very safety in jeopardy. They have a full time escort cum housemaid to help.

By virtue of the relationship built with Sangeetha over the years, Sahaara staff invited her to join Jyoti Home.

Sangeetha now enjoys stable accommodation, nutritious food and vocational training assistance in a family environment! This has enabled her to pursue her studies as well! Additionally, she has also enrolled in a telephone operator course to gain skills to bolster her career. Within the family environment, Sangeetha, hitherto withdrawn has blossomed into a trusting friendly person and looks forward to a bright future!
