Success Story

Ajay, a 5 year old boy, the only son of his parents, belongs to a poor family of a farmer. Ajay, a 5 year old boy, the only son of his parents, belongs to a poor family of a farmer. Some months back his left eye started paining and there was sudden drop of vision. The parents took him to local Ayurvedic doctors who gave him medicines, and when his situation became bad, and the Retinoblastoma covered his whole eye and became very much visible, they brought him to SCEH.

Ajay was given 6 cycles of chemotherapy to arrest the spread of malignancy before he could be operated. Each cycle was administered at the gap of 1 month, after testing his blood count etc. As the cancer of his eye was in a very advanced stage, in the next phase his eye had to be removed surgically. After this radiotherapy treatment has been started; this will be administered in about 20 sessions, which aims to protect the malignancy from spreading and becoming life-threatening.

Ajay became very comfortable after the surgery, as his pain had gone. He started playing and roaming about the hospital as he had to stay in the hospital for over a month. His radiotherapy is going on; he will be reviewed after the whole treatment and subsequently will come for a follow-up every 6 months.
