Akhtari Begum, a 45 years old woman, having lost her left eye in childhood had been living with only her right eye ever since. Akhtari Begum, a 45 years old woman, having lost her left eye in childhood had been living with only her right eye ever since. Belonging to a very poor family had been working as maid in few households to help run the house as she had a big family to look after. Her problems increased when she developed cataract in her right eye. She did not have enough money to get a surgery or even buy a pair of spectacles for herself. Before surgery, she was forced to leave her job because of poor vision. Her vision was so poor that she was having difficulties managing herself in broad daylight.

She was operated here free of cost and spectacles were also provided to her. After surgery, with the help of spectacles she has regained her lost vision and is eager to get back to work as soon as possible. She is in a better position to manage her own life and needs no assistance now. She can now lend a helping hand to her family and lead a fulfilling life.

She is able to go for work and support her family income now. Her spectacles are her best friends now; she really takes care of them as without them she is virtually blind.
