Before we opened our shelter, Karunya Mane, the children who now live there used to live on the streets or in slums in Mysore. Before we opened our shelter, Karunya Mane, the children who now live there used to live on the streets or in slums in Mysore. They often did not get three meals a day, and when they ate their meals were not healthy and fresh nor hygienic, and they certainly did not get to drink two glasses of milk each day.

At Karunya Mane, our children receive two glasses of milk each day, one in the morning after their bath, and one in the afternoon (with a snack, like some fruit, biscuits, or other treats that are usually donated). This is in addition to their three hot meals a day, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The kids health conditions have improved while staying at our orphanage, and they do not get upset tummies as often as they used to. Most of the children have also gained weight, and are now of normal weight for their heights. They also know that they will be fed properly and at the right times each day, and when they come home from school they get their afternoon milk and snack, while waiting for their tuition teachers to arrive.
