Success Story

Shashikala had discontinued college after first year, as her parents were not in a position to support her financially to complete her degree in Science. Shashikala had discontinued college after first year, as her parents were not in a position to support her financially.. She got married later and had a son. As her husband was not earning enough she decided to take up a job. Looking at her pathetic situation her parents called them home and tried to help them by putting up a small business. Shashikala’s husband could not adjust himself and went back to his old job. Shashikala’s child was growing and she felt something had to be done. Her sister who happened to know Samveda and its activities suggested her to approach Samveda. From the day Shashikala joined Samveda as a trainee, she was under lot of distress and the situation at home was not at all congenial. She was in a depressed state and desparate to get a divorce as the husband illtreated her.

At Samveda, Sahana was given behavioural therapy and counselling to stabilise her emotions. This was done by almost all the senior teachers and on a daily basis. In order to come out of depression, she was given responsibilities in the office and guidance was given to make her proactive. Slowly she became sensible and understood the right way to think and to be happy…..

Today, she is a senior remedial math teacher and has trained one junior teacher. She is perusing her final year degree in distance education mode. Her husband is in a good job and they are a happy family with two children to rear. She has no signs of depression whatsoever. She is showing a lot of interest in lesson plan designing and research.
