Success Story

Manjuma Devi, aged 29, was one of the three girl children, born to a family of daily wage labourers Manjuma Devi, aged 29, was one of the three girl children, born to a family of daily wage labourers. She was extremely poor. Her life was further impoverished by a serious disability caused due to a perilous attack of polio at a very early age. Confronting her situation with great courage, Manjuma completed her 10th standard and was looking for a suitable vocation

Manjuma approached Amar Seva Sangam where she was advised to take up a course in typing. She developed excellent typing speed both in Tamil and English. She was given nutritious food and her education comprised of vocational training in the field of computers. Impressed with her zeal and personality, Amar Seva Sangam offered her a job as an in charge of the Honorary Secretary s office. She also pursued BA Tamil at the Periyar University. Ever since she came into Amar Seva Sangam, she was given corrective surgery and continuous to be given physiotherapy treatment to keep her fit, hale and hearty

At present she is an Office Assistant and is healthy. She has progressed from walking on one leg/ crawling wheelchair to walking on her own besides from being just educated from 10th Grade to being in charge of an office
