Success Story

Dhapu and family live in a small hamlet called Bhopa Ji Ki Dhani, in Mandala Khurd. Dhapu and family live in a small hamlet called Bhopa Ji Ki Dhani, in Mandala Khurd. Family trade is farming; but agricultural yield is inadequate as agriculture is rain fed. In the time of need her father also works as a daily wage labourer. He manages to earn a monthly income of Rs 1000 which barely suffices to provide for the basic necessities of the family. Making ends meet is difficult. Dhapu mostly spends her time tending to her siblings or helping her mother with house hold chores. Education is treated as an added luxury and is mostly the boys are encouraged to go to school while the girls spend their time tending to siblings and helping with the house hold chores

Due to lack of resources Dhapu s parents could not send her to school. After a meeting with a teacher from GRAVIS they learnt that they could enroll her into the education support program run by GRAVIS with the support of GIVE. Her parents are happy to send her to school and expect that educating her would make her more self reliant

Dhapu is an active child and records an attendance of 70%. She likes to read Hindi and enjoys the story telling session held by the class teacher. She likes to play many local games like kho-kho, genda-gippi with her friends. She is well behaved with her teacher and fellow mates. Dhapu wants to join the police services through this she wants to serve society
