Overview

The number of inmates is increasing very fast in `Apna Ghar' . The aim of the organisation is to provide rehabilitation services to needy persons, so that no such inmates may be refused admission due to non-availability of residential and other required facilities. The Apna Ghar residential Ashrams have been established in Ajmer, Kota, Alwar District of Rajasthan and in Delhi the national capital of India and this process of expansion is still going on.

The Basics

Homeless, helpless, severely ill, aged, mentally and physically disabled persons are generally found on the roadside, railway platforms, religious places and other public places in very inhuman condition. Generally, these types of helpless people may die due to lack of rehabilitation services. It is necessary to develop the residential facility and arrange food, medicine, clothes and other requirements of life for the needy people, so that no such inmates can be refused admission due to non-availability of residential Homes and other required facilities. The main objective of the organisation is to provide as much help and support as possible to these individuals by including maximum beneficiaries and saving their lives. They plan to expand this service not only for one state but also throughout the nation. Hence, they have established Apna Ghar residential Ashrams in various places across India.

Apna Ghar, a safe home for the destitute people
On July 2012, Apna Ghar Ashram received information from the Railway Police about a mentally challenged woman aged about 35 years lying on the Bharatpur Railway station Platform with her extremely sick and malnourished one year old child. The condition of both the mother and child looked extremely critical, and they had to be treated immediately.
The organisation responded swiftly and admitted both the mother and child at the Apna Ghar Ashram, where they received adequate care and support in the form of food, clothing, shelter, and medication.
Thanks to the support received from Apna Ghar Ashram, both mother and child are now healthy and happy. The baby has been named Rinku, while the mother has been named Archana.
