Success Story

There was economic dependence of women on their male counterparts in Badhapal village of Baliapal Block. There was economic dependence of women on their male counterparts in Badhapal village of Baliapal Block. This was resulting in male dominance, gender violence; family poverty and rural backwardness. No proper skill was available for their training and employment. Women were in search of some gender friendly doorstep employment options.

The interested women from the said village were selected and imparted tailoring skills .They were taught with various dress design like Blouse, Petticoat, Jangia, Baby frock, Chudidar and repair works as well as machine handling techniques. All of them were facilitated with seed money from their SHG funds to start their tailoring unit with the minimum of raw materials. Training starting date was 1st June 2008 in ARM campus, Parulia.

A total of 25 trained women have been self employed. Over and above their work at home, they are engaged in tailoring work and earning Rs. 100 every day supplementing their family income .This has reduced their dependence on male members, improved family economy as well as decreased gender violence.
