29 year old Dhanalatchumi is an urban slum dweller. 29 year old Dhanalatchumi is an urban slum dweller. Her drunkard husband, is a long haul truck driver. She struggled to take care of her three children. She dropped out of school in class IX and did not have any vocational training. Her eldest daughter Madhumitha, 8 years, attended school but Dhanalatchumi feared that she might have to drop out of school due to their poverty

Mrs.Dhanalatchumi learnt about GOSON women vocational training center through Mrs.Sangeetha who was a trainee of the first batch. She learned tailoring for 6 months. She felt confident that she could make money through tailoring. Besides her training, education on health (including HIV/AIDS) and savings too was given. A course certificate was awarded to her for livelihood

GOSON offers the opportunity of using the center for most deserving cases like Mrs.Dhanalatchumi. She stitches dresses for her neighbors and friends and earns Rs.70 daily as additional income. She has enrolled her 5 year old son in school this year. She has been advised to submit an application to the District collector for free machine and hopefully she will get the same in due course
