Success Story

Most of the Govt. Schools lack basic education infrastructure like library, reference books for teachers, Wooden Geometry box to teach maths, etc. Most of the Govt. Schools lack basic education infrastructure like library, reference books for teachers, Wooden Geometry box to teach maths, etc. Apart from this, there are hardly any sports materials. Though govt. is providing free mid day meals, there is lack of equipments like Pressure cooker & utensils & hardly any vegetables is being used. School headmaster of Hasgulli village had the above problem.

IHDUA has given them books for the library, reference books for teachers, geometry box for teaching math, globe etc. For bringing in all round development, we have given sports materials (cricket set, volley ball, carom board, badminton bat, etc). A pressure cooker is given to help them cook cereals, vegetables and dhal. To encourage children to grow vegetables, 8 different types of vegetable seeds are given (beans, radish, brinjal, ridge gourd, snake gourd, ladies finger, field bean, cucumber). To encourage tree planting in the school, we give curry leaf, papaya, drum stick, sapota, lime, goose berry, guava saplings. After some period, these horticulture plants, start bearing fruits/vegetables and they can use it for their mid day meal.

The Quality of education ands strength of students has increased. The children love playing cricket, volley ball, badminton, carom, etc. The teachers are happy with the pressure cooker, as they can, not only cook the dhal/pulses better but will also same time in cooking and the food is tastier. The Kitchen garden grown with the help of school children are getting enough vegetables for making the meal tastier and more nutritious. Papaya, drum stick and lime is already being harvested and used by the students. This program has not only improved quality of education and attendance in rural school, but has brought in all round development of children especially in sports. The midday meal has become a boon to the rural poor children, as they get lunch with enough vegetables and that to cook properly. Thus this program has become very beneficial to the rural community, especially to the rural children.
