In order to holistically address the issue of violence against women (VAW) the Mahila Salah Evam Suraksha Kendra (MSSK) setup of a holistic redressal centre at a Mahila Thana (Womens Police Station).

In order to holistically address the issue of violence against women (VAW) the Mahila Salah Evam Suraksha Kendra (MSSK) setup of a holistic redressal centre at a Mahila Thana (Womens Police Station). It was felt that cases of VAW not only needed multiple interventions but a shift in approach, which would give the women the right to make an informed choice when subjected to violence.

Providing support to women facing violence by way of 1.Assisting them to negotiate their way through the Criminal Justice system 2. Settling disputes through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms 3. Providing rehabilitation to women survivors of violence 4. Providing medical aid, legal aid, psychosocial support, shelter, economic rehabilitation and any other relief required.
The centre functions through the services of 2 full time paid social workers and two police officers attached from the Mahila Police Station. Representatives of womens and other civil society representatives come on a voluntary basis regularly. Regular service from a team of lawyers and a psychologist has also been provided at the centre SAPNA aspires to make the MSSK at Alwar into a model center in the country.
