Success Story

Koliyankualm, is a backward village, neglected by the outside world. Koliyankualm, is a backward village, neglected by the outside world. Most people are daily wage earners and children usually work as labourers to supplement family income. A large number of children are orphaned. Eleven year old Soniya went to school but the lack of good teachers discouraged her from learning.

HELP enrolled Soniya in our evening school, providing her with a teacher to help in enhancing her learning. Our activities and games helped her acquire additional skills and developed her personality. Nathiya is one of our teachers who is working in Koliyankulam Evening School. She is from the community itself. She helps the children in their education and encourages them to participate in co-curricular activities.

Motivation and help from teachers has helped Soniya and other children like her. Soniya stood first in her Grade and now dreams of starting her own business in garments. She will soon be enrolled in our Tailoring & Embroidery class.
