Raksha is a cognitively challenged child and when she entered Muktangan, she felt a sense of awkwardness as she was older than her peers. Muktangan’s philosophy of ‘inclusive education’ refers to non-differentiation between the normal and physically / mentally challenged children. At Muktangan teachers are trained to observe and support such kid’s development as a part of the bigger group. With the support of the teacher, the child learns to express feelings thorough various modes including creative and innovative techniques.

Today, Raksha has emerged out as a confident child and can speak in different languages including English. She is a very creative person and with the guidance from her facilitators, she has been able to develop her skills in painting. Her paintings have been applauded and appreciated by the teachers and there are plan to make greeting cards using her art work.
