Success Story

M.Kalarani is 14 years living with her parents and younger sister at Ayyampalayam. M.Kalarani is 14 years living with her parents and younger sister at Ayyampalayam. She is studying Grade 9 in government higher secondary school, Ayyampalayam. All four of them, her parents, her younger sister and herself are living with HIV/AIDS. Their poverty status did not allow them to have good nutritive food, enough education materials, health etc. They were just coolie workers who earned very minimum and that was not sufficient for managing their needs. She turned HIV positive only last year. She does not look like 14 years old girl. She was given the comprehensive support in the month of January 2010.

We had Identified her and seeing her curiosity and confidence we provided her education materials like school bag, uuniform, pencil box, water filter, nutrimix powder in the month of January 2010. Besider she also was given various trainings like leadership, life skill, yoga to ensure wholistic development and growth. Now we find her imporving and marching towards Integrated development. Her mother also was given IGP support for economic sustainability. Not the entire family is better amidst much difficulties.

SSH support enabled her to acquire good health by supporting her every month from other local donors. Her health condition is improved, her CD4 level is gradually increasing and the occurrence of opportunistic infection has reduced. She is strengthened to participate in co-curricular activities like speech, drawing, essay writing and got prizes also. She is very confident to achieve her ambition of becoming an IAS officer.
