Manoj Kumar, and his wife Bhanwari Devi have a 4 year old daughter who is thin and weak Manoj Kumar, and his wife Bhanwari Devi have a 4 year old daughter who is thin and weak. They are expecting their second child. Manoj is a daily wage labourer. The family follows old customs and are unaware of good health & hygiene practices. The village lacks health facilities and the women are ignorant on pre and post natal care.

In this area IMR & MMR rate is high, women are anaemic. They cannot afford a balanced diet during pregnancy and medical checkups. Gram Chetna provided Bhanwari and other women facilities for medical checkup, medicine, nutrition and also facilities for institutional delivery.

Now women have confidence and knowledge of safe motherhood. They are immunized, take iron pills, tonics green vegetable, maintain proper hygiene, are checked by a trained midwife each month. The children are healthy and mothers are out of danger at the time of delivery.
