If you are a UK taxpayer, for every pound that you have donated, GIVE UK can reclaim 28 pence from the IRS helping your donation go further. To Gift Aid donations, please register as a UK tax payer or modify your profile accordingly. When you make a donation, the system asks you whether you would like to GiftAid the donation or not. Success Story

Chinnappa, was born with mental retardation 30 odd years ago Chinnappa, was born with mental retardation 30 odd years ago. An orphanage in Bangalore picked him up off the street as an infant and has cared for him all these years. Due to the lack of vocational institutions that cater to adult mentally challenged individuals, he led an isolated and secluded life at the orphanage

Chinnappa came to Diya Foundation at its inception. He has been trained in simple repetitive tasks of sanding & painting paper mache/resin artifacts, folding & sticking paper bags, etc. He has the opportunity to improve his social skills through interaction with a variety of people- other differently abled trainees and staff, volunteers & well wishers. He takes home a stipend every month

Chinnappa is at the Diya gate with bag in hand work day or holiday. Earlier nervous, quiet and timid, today he walks into Diya every morning with a greeting for everyone. He makes his way to the centre on his own, works with little or no supervision and completes a given task to perfection, all the while exhibiting his improved independence, responsibility and capability
