Success Story

Sonu was a sick child ,right from birth .At the age of 2 ½ yrs , he was detected HIV positive Sonu was a sick child ,right from birth .At the age of 2 ½ yrs , he was detected HIV positive .In Aug’2007, Sonu ‘s parents first got in touch with Child Survival India ‘s program for HIV children. Sonu was in a very bad state at that time. He was 7 yrs old and weighed just 6 Kg. He could not walk at all. His CD4 cell count was 340, which was very low

Sonu got treatment at our care home and we started providing monthly nutrition supplement of milk powder, rice , lentils, nutri nuggets and jaggery to the child. Sonu’s parents were also counseled on home care issues and were given guidance on protein rich diet for him. They were also taught to give regular massage to the child. The child was also registered for ART treatment at the nearest govt. hospital

Sonu is now 8 ½ yrs old. He weighs 13 Kg and his CD4 has gone up to 1490.He can walk and run like other children and he has started going to school
