The women of marginalized communities had no say in the decision making process at the household and community level The women of marginalized communities had no say in the decision making process at the household and community level. Their developmental issues were left untouched by the panchayats. They were frequently beaten up by their male counterparts and did not have access to the economic strings of the family

GENVP organized several meeting with the women community, formed over 100 SHGs and conducted a series of capacity development trainings. These SHG were developed as a platform for discussion on developmental issues for women such as saving and credit, girl child education, women atrocities etc. Punia Devi was one of the SHG members from the community

Punia Devi received training on IGA. After returning she motivated her family to let her start an enterprise. With credit support from her group she started a grocery shop. Today she is earning Rs 3500/- p.m. and augmenting the household income. Her decisions are being taken seriously by her family as well as the community
