Success Story

Due to development projects related to commonwealth games and the Delhi Metro, a lot of slums in Delhi have been relocated to the outskirts of city. Due to development projects related to commonwealth games and the Delhi Metro, a lot of slums in Delhi have been relocated to the outskirts of city. They have no access to safe water. More over bad ways of excreta disposal results in sickness and death in these colonies. Living in unhealthy conditions such as crowded rooms and exposure to indoor smoke makes them vulnerable to Tuberculosis and other URTIs.

Child Survival India thus organizes specialized health camps on Eye check, dental check up, skin problems, ante natal care check up etc in these slum communities so as to increase access to quality health services at their doorstep for the people. A series of camps are organized in a single community so as to meet specific health needs of the community people.

One such Eye check up camp resulted in examination of 240 patients and 14 persons were screened out for Cataract surgery. The free cataract surgeries were facilitated through the collaborating agency.The community people felt very satisfied that they got qualified and specialist health services at their doorstep and they did not have to run from one place to other for getting follow up services.
