A large number of children were drop outs or never went to school due to abject poverty and ignorance of their parents on the importance of education. These children did petty work and several of them were engaged in hazardous work like in stone crushing units. There was open violation of child rights in the area

The organization initiated community meetings and campaigned for promotion of education among the children. 10 Alternative education centres were opened to provide short term (a year) schooling after which children would be mainstreamed into government schools. Enrollment of girl children was conducted on a priority basis

The efforts of the organization were successful in improving the enrollment of the children at formal schools and alternative education centres. The number of child labourers in the area has reduced significantly and parents are taking interest in the education of their children
