To the people of her village, little Chetna was a strange girl who could not move or respond to any stimulus. She lay supine and inert. Her ears were deformed. Her physical growth was retarded. This did not discourage her parents. Her father, a blacksmith, fashioned a special chair for her to sit, which was certified as perfect for Chetna by the special educators who entered the scene much later.
