Success Story

Raghu was a building painter until 4 years ago Raghu was a building painter until 4 years ago. A fall on site and the subsequent spinal injury resulted in paralysis from his waist down. Frustration due to his immobility and frequent physical illness caused by the paralysis caused a depression and lack of interest to move on

Raghu joined Diya as a staff member a year ago. He trains our mentally challenged in paper-bag making and finishing of candles, etc. He is given the opportunity to build friendships with a variety of people- other differently abled trainees and staff, volunteers & well wishers. He also receives medical advice and treatment from medical advisory panel

Raghu has vastly improved in his attitude towards his disability & has learned to accept it. He has built solid friendships with the staff at Diya and is fondly regarded by the trainees. The medical treatment and promise of a possible improvement in his mobility condition have egged him on. It is believed that medication and physical therapy would help improve his mobility to a large extent
