Success Story

Mrs. Kalamani, aged 36, was infected by AIDS through her husband Mrs. Kalamani, aged 36, was infected by AIDS through her husband who passed away. She has two young children. Her in-laws threw her out of their home and she was living with her aged parents. They had no support and were abandoned by their family and neighbours. Kalamani grew weaker and weaker due to lack of proper nutrition

PWDS learnt of her condition and provided her with supplementary nutritional support every month. We also invited her to our monthly gatherings and orientation on yoga to learn to keep fit despite fighting a dangerous disease.

Kalamani’s health and CD4 count increased. She is engaged in cattle rearing is strong enough to now look after her children and her aged parents. She has made friends through the monthly gatherings and has gained confidence to overcome the stigma of AIDS
