Ms. Chandra, aged 24 years, is the third daughter of Mr. Subbaiah of Vilappatti village Ms. Chandra, aged 24 years, is the third daughter of Mr. Subbaiah of Vilappatti village. She was educated up to 8th standard. She was an agricultural labourer. Her neighbour Mr. Murugesan had an affair with her and promised to marry her. She became pregnant. He then refused to marry her. She made a police complaint but Murugesan’s family suppressed the case by bribing the police with political influence. Her parents also rejected Chandra for her misbehaviour

She was admitted to the CARD Swadhar Shelter Home on 24.04.2007. She, Murugesan, and both their families were called for counseling. Murugesan was still not willing to marry her. Instead, his parents were ready to give money to Chandra to solve the problem. Chandra however wants to fight for her and her 1 ½ year old child’s rights

After admitting Chandra in the home, many counseling sessions were conducted. After counseling, her parents accepted her. Now, they are visiting her once in a month. But her parents were not in a position to meet the legal expenses.. She was helped by CARD to file the case and provided necessary legal support to fight for her rights
