Success Story

Shailender is the fifth child of a large family comprising of grandparents, parents and 8 children. Shailender is the fifth child of a large family comprising of grandparents, parents and 8 children. The family is landless and Shailenders father works as a mason on daily wages. He could never find a place to study in the small, two-room house. During graduation, he went far to access a Public Library.

Three years ago, CSI started a rural library in Shailender?s village. He could sit there and study the whole day as it was close to his home. He was also not faced with the daunting prospect of having to change buses late in the day to get home.

Shailender has cleared the examination for sanitary inspectors? training and after 9 months, he shall have a government job. He is very happy and visits the library everyday to read newspapers. The library has some preparatory books for competitive exams. Shailender, however, feels that more books and magazines that can help students to prepare for exams need to be added to the collection.
