Success Story

The rural mass is not aware of disability prevention and rehabilitation. The rural mass is not aware of disability prevention and rehabilitation. People, due to lack of education, think that disabled are a curse to the family. They take modern medicines for their welfare but keep the disabled uncared and neglected in a corner of the home

In a survey in west block of Madurai district, we realized the lack of awareness on disability. In January, people in various rural and urban areas were on a pilgrimage. The foundation took this opportunity to promote awareness. People were given physiotherapy for physical problems and counseling on rehabilitation and prevention of disability

This campaign was a great success. It has reached out to many people. In the follow up we found that people are doing exercises suggested by us to prevent physical ailments. Pregnant women are having nutritious food. They are guiding the disabled in their village to take rehabilitation service. This awareness can be taken to huge number of people in prevention and rehabilitating the disability
