Meera became a school dropout to look after her younger siblings when her father ended his life fed up of his prolonged illness. Her mother works as a rag picker and was unable to provide even one meal a day to her four children; education was not a priority.

IDEA provided nutritional support and convinced Meera’s mother to send her children to school. IDEAs social worker helped enroll the three younger children in school and 14 year old Meera in Non Formal education and embroidery classes. School authorities agreed to allow Meera to appear for the exams as an external student.

Though the family requires consistent motivation, counseling and support, the children are in school now. There is a lot of improvement in their health and hygiene.
