Success Story

Ratnamma is a resident of Channavadeyanapura and has a family of eight members. She was using the regular ole (oven) for cooking, which always used to fill her kitchen with smoke. As a result of using the ole, she had developed a respiratory infection, and a cough that was getting worse everyday.

Ratnamma's infection and the underlying cause were detected during a visit of BCCHI's Mobile Health Clinic to her area. She came to know about Sarala Ole in the health education session organised by BCCHI. She immediately came forward to take up the construction of Sarala Ole when offered an opportunity.

Ratnamma is grateful to BCCHI and its staff for introducing the compact, fuel efficient stove to her. She feels that it is a boon to rural women who spend a large part of their time cooking. With the introduction of Sarala Ole, cooking has become a joy as there is no smoke and she even saves time. She is also thankful to the Trust for curing her persistent cough.
