Success Story

A health checkup for pregnant women was being conducted by BCCHI under its RCH program in 20 villages of Gundlupet taluk, focusing on antenatal care. A health checkup for pregnant women was being conducted by BCCHI under its RCH program in 20 villages of Gundlupet taluk, focusing on antenatal care. Devamma of Belachalwadi village was pregnant for the first time and scared. She was looking for someone who wouldd clarify her doubts and ally her fears.

Devamma was diagnosed with some health problems relating to her pregnancy. She was advised care and delivery at the hospital unlike the practice in rural areas. However, when she went into labour she could not make it to the hospital in time. Her husband called BCCHI and the project jeep came to the rescue and Devamma gave birth to a healthy baby in a hospital.

Her husband came to the field office the next day full of joy. He thanked BCCHI staff for providing her health education and monthly ANC check-up and, most importantly, for providing transportation at the time of delivery. He said-You have not only saved the life of my wife but also my child. I will forever be grateful to your organisation and staff for the help provided to my family.
