SAATH (Initiatives for Equity in Development) has facilitated participatory processes that improve the quality of life for the urban and rural poor since 1989. Its single-stop, integrated services reach over 100,000 slum dwellers and youth in Ahmedabad, and many more in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

How It Works

• The programme aims to reach people between the ages of 18-35 years to enable them to gain access to opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and growth in the new emerging economy. • Courses such as training to work in Beauty Parlours, Information Technology -enabled services, Bedside Patient Assistance, Customer Relation in Sales, Retail Management, Computer Hardware, Tally Accounting Software etc. are run. • Additional sessions in Basic English, Life Skills and Work Readiness are provided to the trainees along with their chosen course. • Currently, the NGO runs 15 centres running different courses in 6 cities (Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Baroda, Nadiad and Gandhinagar) across Gujarat.
• The NGO also places some of them in the industry after successful completion of the training program

Amit Sejvani is 19 years old and he is living with his parents and 2 siblings. His father has a small business from which their family monthly income is Rs. 4,000. Amit came to know about Skills to Succeed – Digital Learning programme through one of the road show conducted by our team.
He joined Retail Management course at Nadiad Centre. Along with the retail training he was also provided additional sessions in Computer Basics, Spoken English and Life Skills.
After completion of the course he got a job at Surya Prakash Textile at Revdi bazaar Ahmedabad at salary of Rs 5,000/- per month. He is very satisfied with his job and at present along with the job he is running his own business from past 1 month in Nadiad.
