The Mazi Sainik Shishan Ani Swasthya Kalyan Sanstha (MSSASKS) is a charitable Trust established by ex servicemen (ESMs). The NGO believes that Education is a vital tool to amalgamate the underprivileged tribal into the mainstream, find a vocation, obtain a job, become self-sufficient, keep away from the perils of the evils of the society. In 2004, an English medium school named Daffodils was conceived as an educational initiative in this remote tribal area long before electricity and water was available to them. After considerable efforts and through personal funds contribution, Daffodils school became a reality with its own concrete structure of 14 rooms, hall, independent wash rooms for girls and boys, play ground, PT and Drill areas. Tiny tots from the tribal families were enrolled into Nursery and Kindergarten. One standard was added each academic year. School is up to Grade 9 currently. Affiliated to the State Board of Maharashtra. School Timings are 9a.m. to 3 p.m. The school has since grown in consonance of a policy decision to add one class every year. Daffodils caters to students from eight villages in remote areas within a radius of 25 kilometres from the school. The villagers are very poor and there is no organized child-safe transportation service available. It becomes imperative to convey the children by school bus. Since the parents are not in a position to pay for the bus service it is necessary to fund it. A bus service requires a driver, a conductor cum child escort. There are no paved roads to the villages and the terrain takes its toll on the bus. Therefore, the maintenance cost, fuel expenditures are substantial. A dedicated bus service has assured the parents specially the mothers and their women folk of the safety of their children. It encourages them to send their children to school. The beneficiaries are children whose parents are very poor and can ill afford education for them. MASSKS Trust, struggles every year to make the ends of educational needs meet through personal contributions by the Trustees as well as fees from parents who can afford to pay a small sum

Transformation of underprivileged children through education
Nikhil and Ratandeep are two young wards in our care at the Daffodils. Both children could be seen wallowing in the poverty of their existence before our intervention. They were speaking only their local dialect. Their parents only dreamt of schooling but could not afford. In our initiative to catch them when young, we impressed upon their parents to enroll them in Daffodils school.
They joined school when they were tiny tots. We sort of adopted these children. We provide them with uniforms and books. Their teachers and staff guide them lovingly with maternal care. They are brought to school every day by the school transport and drooped back home after school.
Today they are visibly confident and easy going, with reasonable fluency in English, Hindi and Marathi languages. Well mannered and disciplined, they are an asset.
