So-called builders and their goons come visiting armed with forms to be filled up and signed, and actually asking for money! They talk about 7-storied buildings with a self-contained apartment for each family.

Dazed and alarmed by all this, the people started asking Apnalaya what they should do. Apnalaya offered them a Training on Housing policy and the relevant schemes, particularly the Slum Redevelopment Scheme (popularly known as SRA or SRS). Our workers met representatives of various community groups and asked them to join this one-day session

The proposed Housing Co-operative Society is formed and has applied for registration. They have contacted an architect who has promised them help to develop a housing scheme on their own. The land survey has been done and the group has already applied for clearance from Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika.
