Junti, 21 years old, was rescued by the Ashadeep team from the streets of Guwahati in September 2005 Junti, 21 years old, was rescued by the Ashadeep team from the streets of Guwahati in September 2005. Lying on the footpath covered by flies, she was totally oblivious to the world around her. She had bruises all over her body and apparently in a very unstable mental condition

Within two weeks of her stay at Navachetana Transit Care Shelter, Junti showed marked signs of improvement, with proper interventions in the areas of food and hygiene together with appropriate Medical and Psychiatric treatment. Gradually with proper counseling, she was able to provide details about her family and home

Junti was interested in weaving on the loom. We gave her a handloom, where she weaves beautifully designed cloth from the yarn supplied by us. Junti earns about Rs 25 for each meter of cloth she produces from Ashadeep. After two years since her re-integration, Junti is leading a fruitful life as an earning member of her family
