 Bilwal's world is changing
Bilwal Sunny Mukeshbhai is a resident of Mirakhedi in Zalod district Dahod. He was visually impaired by birth. He was living like a vegetable in his house doing nothing. His parents did not know what to do with him. Can a blind child learn anything? was their question. In our Survey of the persons with disability we identified him and helped him in getting medical certificate. We then convinced the parents to admit him in a normal school called Vasti primary school in Grade 1. Our special teacher Mr Bharat Panchal started taking care for his education and special needs like braille language and arithmetic. Today Sunny is studying in Grade 8 of Rashtriya Uttar Buniyadi Vidhyalaya Mirakhedi. He moves around and comes from home and goes back all alone. He has good orientation and mobility and is successfully going ahead in his studies in Braille. He also takes part in almost all extracurricular activities of the school.Of course we do the training on regular basis during their study and at home also.

 Sounds and laughter
Khatedya Divyansh ,7 years of age is a child with Hearing Impairment and speech impairment who is a resident of Bhimfaliya, Jhabua (MP). He did nothing at home except for a few household activities and some play. His parents didn’t know how to go ahead with his education. Our teacher met the family and informed them of the new school at Blind welfare council Dahod which is about 50 kms from his residence. He convinced them to admit the child in Grade 1 in this new special school for the children with hearing and speech impairment. Our special teacher Tara ben who is trained to teach the children with hearing impaiment is taking care of his educational as well as daily living needs. After one month, he is now able to identify Gujarati alphabets, all domestic animals, and can make signs for the identification of numbers and animals and will complete Grade 1 successfully at the end of the year.

A new life for Hatim Kadiwala
Hatim is an orphan child with Downs Syndrome a mental retardation We came to know about him from his relatives and we wanted to convince them to admit Hatim to the newly opened multi-handicap residential but Hatim is very happy at the campus & has refused to go with his aunt.  A new beginning for Mariya
Mariya Kapadiya aged 32 years is a lady who suffers from visual impairment. She completed her school studies long back in the year 1990 and then tried for a job but could’nt get one in Dahod which is her home town. After that she did a short term course on telephone operating and kept on searching for a job. She used to do all the house work and help her family members. BWC was in touch with her and we informed her about the Computer operator course specially for people with visual impairment and loco motor disablities that had started in the year 2008. This course is recognised by Government of Gujarat ( Gujarat council for vocational training – GCVT) We enrolled her in this course in the same year for the first batch itself. With the help of the JAWS ( Job access with speech) software she was able to learn the computer operation easily, with the help of Braille she could learn theory and Practical with Jaws and CD she successfully completed this course with 81 % marks. For the next batch in the year 2009 she was appointed as Computer Instructor in the same training programme and is doing her job successfully. Being a person with visual impairment she can teach the students with visual impairment in a better way.
