Mission/Vision
We aim to provide homeless, abandoned children with the basics of life, i.e. a home, education, love and affection and above all an existence with dignity.

Background
Saikripa is essentially the brainchild of Anjina Rajagopal. She had always nurtured the desire to work with poor children and in 1989, Saikripa was registered.

Ms. AnjinaRajagopal was touched during her younger days by the plight of the orphans soliciting alms on the streets. This constrained her to come into the social work full time leaving a lucrative livelihood. Her quotable quote is first step is more important for any beginner to enter into the domain of social work.

 Ganga
Ganga, a physically challenged orphan is around 14 years of age and a student of grade II. He lives with his grandfather who is a peasant. The family consists of 2 sisters and 5 brothers. For the last few years he used to watch the children from outside the gate. All our efforts to get him to attend the school failed. But last year he approached us and expressed his wish to study. Therefore we gave him admission in grade I. He is a first generation learner and as such there is no one in the family to help the boy in his studies. However the boy is quite bright and showing good progress in all the subjects specifically in the English language. His grandfather is ambitious to make Ganga well educated and take up a good job which will change the financial condition of the family.

 Tanya
Balkutir is a home for parentless and abandoned children started in the year 1990. This has a strength of 37 children. Tanya was brought to Balkutir in 2008. She was extremly weak not even able to st.and on her own due to under nourishement. Tanya was given proper nourishment and taken to hospital for treatment. She started showing improvement in health and became cheerful. Later she was admitted to our own school and put in nursery class. She is around four yeas of age now. The children in Balkutir are given milk and biscuits immediately after waking up. They have breakfast (Chapatti and vegetables) before leaving for school at 7.30 in the morning and carry the same stuff in Tiffin boxes for school at 11.30 am. They have lunch after coming back from school around 3 pm which consists of rice, Dhal, vegetables and curd. Evening at 6 pm they are given some fruits or light snacks after prayer. They have dinner after 7.30 pm consisting rice, lentils and vegetables. Non veg. food is served occasionally. Tanya continues to be chearful and attends the nursary class regularly. The importance of meal cannot be over emphasized as the growing children need balanced diet for their proper mental and physical growth which will enable them to concentrate on their studies and do well in their exams.
