Mission/Vision
To be the Beacon of Hope against cancer.

Background
The vision of two great men, Dr. D.J. Jussawalla and Mr. Naval Tata led to the birth of the Indian Cancer Society. It was established in order to undertake a comprehensive cancer care programme in the country. ICS is a registered Public Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 and the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The Society established the first Rehabilitation Centre at Parel in 1961 which is the largest and oldest of its kind in Asia and contributes greatly to the mental, physical and economic well being of underprivileged cancer patients. In 1963, the Society established the Cancer Registry for Mumbai, the oldest cancer registry in the country, which was later extended to the whole of Maharashtra. ICS’s research program includes publication of the internationally recognized Indian Journal of Cancer.
